Job description

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital location in Minneapolis, MN.

We’re offering a $20,000 Sign-On Bonus (Flat rate / Not Prorated) for RT's with 2+ years of Neonatal / Pediatric experience who are hired at our Children's Masonic Hospital location! If you do not have the experience listed, then you can also qualify for our $9,000 Sign-On Bonus!

Respiratory Therapy at the U of M Masonic Children’s hospital is a dynamic, growing department with approximately 50 staff members. As part of a large, integrated, academic healthcare system, the Respiratory Therapist has an integral and dynamic role in the care of children. We believe families are the child's primary strength and support and our Respiratory Therapists are key partners in the care team who are committed to delivering family-centered care. At the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, the child comes first.

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day and night shifts. This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend.

  • Shift differential incentives:
    • $2.00/hr for weekends
    • $4.00/hr for nights

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing patient needs and identifies expected outcomes.
  • Implementing Respiratory interventions based on plan of care.
  • Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • License/Certification/Registration:
    • Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Exceptions include:
      • New Graduates only - must complete RRT within 1 year of hire date.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Additional Requirements (must be obtained and maintained):
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire
    • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
