Job summary

Long Island Community Hospital seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for per diem days (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM) with a rotating weekend schedule. Under supervision, provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary issues in a patient-first environment.

Responsibilities include rounds, reviewing orders, selecting therapies, administering medications, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New York State Respiratory Therapist license.
• BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Ability to walk, stand for extended periods and lift 0-25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary problems.
• Cover assigned areas and supervise Respiratory Technicians as needed.
• Perform rounds to assess patient status and ensure orders are followed.
• Interpret physician orders and determine therapy type, duration, medication, and dosages.
