Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina Midlands Respiratory Therapist role provides advanced respiratory care, diagnostics, and therapies for patients of all ages. You will collaborate with physicians to implement care plans and ensure high-quality, evidence-based practice.

Role includes participating in emergency and critical care, educating patients and staff, and maintaining infection control standards. Rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• 0-1 year of clinical Respiratory Therapist experience; critical care or emergency care experience preferred.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist; BLS required; ACLS/PALS per department orientation; NRP within 90 days of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' respiratory status through exams and tests.
• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen, nebulizers, chest physiotherapy and ventilation support.
• Perform pulmonary function tests and ABG analysis.
• Provide CPR and assist in ICU care and patient transport.
• Educate patients and staff on respiratory care techniques and safety.
