Position Overview
UHS Home Care is currently seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care and education primarily in the Home Care office and other times in patients’ homes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, a commitment to high-quality patient care, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe and effective use of respiratory equipment, compliance with treatment plans, and improved patient outcomes.

$31.15 - $46.72 per hour, depending on experience

The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no weekends, holidays, evenings, or nights except for on-call hours. Mileage for home visits is reimbursed at $0.69 per mile.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care and education to patients in the office and home setting.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, including pulse oximetry, for oxygen therapy patients; arrange travel accommodations for those requiring portable oxygen, as needed.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory equipment, including oxygen systems, nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP, suction devices, and oximeters.
  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders; ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for internal teams and assist in training new staff and students.
  • Participate in continuing education, community outreach events, and the development of patient care programs.
  • Contribute to the review of policies, procedures, and budget planning; support patient satisfaction efforts through service excellence and ongoing communication with referral sources.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire


Preferred:

  • Experience working with durable medical equipment (DME) in a patient-care setting
  • 2 years of home care experience
