Job summary

Gurwin Healthcare System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist experienced in long-term and sub-acute care settings. The role requires an NYS-licensed RRT or CRT and a JRCRTE AMA-accredited program, with BLS and 3–5 years of respiratory therapy preferred.

The position offers 12-hour shifts, including one weekend shift every other weekend, with opportunities to contribute to patient comfort and safety across geriatric and rehab populations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a JRCRTE AMA accredited program in Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as an RRT or CRT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 3–5 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• Member of the American Association for Respiratory Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make decisions within the scope of respiratory care and provide recommendations to the physician.
• Provide respiratory care to all residents following physician orders.
• Assess residents with dementia and related behaviors and respond appropriately.
• Identify signs of respiratory distress and implement appropriate interventions.
• Document assessments, plans, goals, and care provided.
