Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday through Friday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Scheduled Hours: 7am to 7pm

Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 12 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 36

Cost Center: 25080 - 1710 Respiratory Therapy

Position Overview

The therapist is expected to perform all modes of Respiratory care as defined in the department policy manual, including delivery of small volume nebulizers, arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways, and mechanical ventilation. Therapists must be competent to deliver these therapies to all age groups from perinatal to geriatric.

Major Responsibilities

1. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
2. Document all care activities and charges in the hospital EMR system.
3. Participate in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities.
4. Maintain competency in arterial blood gas machines, mechanical ventilators, V60 NIPPV, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy systems.
5. Disinfect, transport, and set up non-disposable equipment.
6. Adhere to the Hospital's Standards of Behavior.
7. Complete all annual competencies.

Standard Staffing Responsibilities

1. Follow departmental policies and procedures.
2. Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences as required.
3. Utilize Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Follow health and safety regulations.
5. Respect diverse views and maintain professionalism.
6. Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
7. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed in Massachusetts in respiratory care.
• Current BLSHP certification from the American Heart Association.
• Maintain CEUs as per Massachusetts licensure regulations.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, stoop, kneel, reach, and work near moving parts, fumes, or chemicals, as specified.
