Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday through Friday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Scheduled Hours: 7a to 7p

Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 12 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 36

Cost Center: 25080 - 1710 Respiratory Therapy

The therapist is expected to perform all modes of Respiratory care as defined in the department policy and procedure manual, including delivery of small volume nebulizers, arterial blood gases, artificial airways, and mechanical ventilation. Therapies should be delivered to all age groups from perinatal to geriatric.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Document all care activities and charges in the hospital EMR system.
  • Participate in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain competency in arterial blood gas machines, mechanical ventilators, V60 NIPPV, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy systems.
  • Disinfect, transport, and set up all non-disposable equipment.
  • Adhere to the Hospitals’ Standards of Behavior.
  • Complete all hospital and department annual competencies.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, seminars as required.
  • Use Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Follow health and safety regulations.
  • Respect diverse views, demonstrate professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed in Massachusetts in respiratory care (full or limited capacity).
  • Current BLSHP certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain CEUs as per Massachusetts licensure regulations.

Equivalent education and experience may be considered if they provide proficiency in the responsibilities listed.

Department-specific competencies will be developed and maintained in individual departments, reviewed regularly.

Physical and environmental requirements include lifting weights up to 100 pounds, stooping, reaching, and exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
