Job summary

Family Health West in western Colorado seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join our dedicated team. You’ll provide comprehensive patient care, operate ventilator support and work closely with physicians, nurses and therapists to ensure safety and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, documenting in the EHR, and maintaining equipment readiness while committing to ongoing professional development and adherence to hospital policies in a dynamic, patient-centered

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
• Current State of Colorado Respiratory Therapist license required; RRT preferred.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces errors.
• Monitors patient comfort during procedures and communicates with staff as needed.
• Applies and monitors ventilator support (invasive and non-invasive).

ESSENTAIL DUTIES:

• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Supports a culture of quality and safety.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of all department forms, flow charts, logbooks and their proper usage along with policies, procedures and protocols.
• Monitors patient comfort and alleviates anxiety during procedures.
• Is available for consultation with medical, nursing and administrative staff.
• Applies and monitors invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support.
• Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition to appropriate patient care personnel including physicians, co-workers & nursing staff. Prioritizes care per acuity.
• Completes accurate and timely documentation of all patient care delivered with all required information including patient condition and response in EHR following departmental policy and procedures.
• Considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plans and completing duties.
• Identifies patient needs for education and provides patient teaching through clear and tactful communication with patients, family members and the caregivers.
• Assembles equipment, performs verification tests and appropriately documents equipment readiness and work accomplished.
• Regularly updates knowledge of techniques, guidelines and regulations. Assists others in developing job skills and enhancing performance.
• Maintains consistent and quality work flow for department processes in the absence of supervision.
• Maintains close communication with management and other therapists regarding quality issues within the department (including patient needs, staff ability, equipment needs etc. pertinent to the shift).
• Develops and enhances job knowledge and models leadership behaviors.
• Attends education in-service programs to maintain professional competency. Obtains appropriate hospital-specific education and training.
• Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.
• Attends at least four (4) staff meetings annually, currently utilizing 1st Friday for this requirement.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
• Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

1.

Education

Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) required.

2.

Licenses

Current State of Colorado Respiratory Therapist license in good standing required.

Current RRT preferred

3.

Certifications

Current BLS certification required.

Obtain ACLS/PALS certification within six months of hire date.

4.

Experience

Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of Respiratory Care preferred.

Wage Starts at $33.66 and goes up based on experience
