The role you’ll contribute:

The Respiratory Therapist III provides routine, emergent and critical cardiopulmonary care under the direction of a physician to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Takes responsibility as Lead Therapist covering in a supervisory capacity in the absence of a Lead Therapist. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan, to all local, state, and federal regulations, and standards of accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with patients and staff.

• Supervises the delivery of cardiopulmonary care according to policies and procedures. Monitors patient progress through assessments and reassessments. Recommends changes in respiratory care plans based on medical necessity and protocols.
• Instructs and coaches patients before, during, and after treatments. Manages side effects and adjusts therapies based on clinical data such as pulse oximetry, peak flow, X-rays, labs, etc.
• Serves as a resource and trainer for staff. May serve as BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP instructor. Supports staff development and departmental growth.
• Initiates and manages mechanical ventilation, determining modes and settings, troubleshooting alarms, and facilitating weaning processes based on patient progress.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years hospital experience as RRT or >8 years as CRT with at least 1 year in critical care.
• Graduate of an approved respiratory care program; Associate degree or equivalent required.
• Registered (RRT) or certified (CRT) prior to 2000 by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS and/or NRP within 90 days if required by the hospital.
• Valid Florida license issued by the Agency for Healthcare Administration.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrates clinical excellence with potential leadership qualities.
