GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position, supervised by experienced respiratory therapists and healthcare professionals, involves assisting with floor therapy and the delivery of respiratory modalities. It offers an opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in respiratory therapy to gain practical, hands-on experience.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in delivering respiratory modalities and therapies to patients under the guidance of respiratory therapists. (50%)
• Set up, maintain, and clean respiratory equipment and devices, ensuring all are in proper working order and available for use. (15%)
• Expand knowledge and skills in respiratory therapy, collaborating effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals. (15%)
• Manage oxygen storage and distribution to ensure a continuous and safe supply, and monitor equipment and storage areas. (10%)
• Document the delivery of respiratory therapies accurately and maintain patient records according to hospital protocols. (10%)
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED
• Currently enrolled in a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program, with at least one semester of clinical rotations completed.
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in respiratory therapy
