Job summary

ChildServe in Johnston, IA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide professional respiratory care for children, teens, and young adults within our inpatient services, including pediatric rehabilitation and long-term complex medical units.

In this full-time role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document records, educate families and staff, and ensure safe use of equipment while staying current with ChildServe policies.

Qualifications

• Certification from an accredited respiratory therapy program and current licensure to practice in Iowa.
• Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• PALS certification preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Experience with tracheostomy care and changes preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and be mobile; able to bend, lift, reach and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of respiratory therapy care based on physician orders and the child’s care plan.
• Maintain accurate, timely records as defined by therapy standards and ChildServe policies.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, physicians, school staff, and ChildServe team members.
• Stay current with unit and ChildServe-specific information.
• Provide respiratory and related training to children, families, and staff as needed.
• Demonstrate stewardship of equipment, supplies, and environment.

Job description

We’re looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team and provide professional respiratory care for children, teens, and young adults. This role is an essential part of our multidisciplinary team within our inpatient services, including pediatric rehabilitation and long term complex medical units.

Schedule

• Full-Time, 3 shifts per week, 6am-6pm, 3 days per week, every 3rd weekend
• Benefit eligible including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match and generous PTO accrual including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Within the respiratory therapy scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the child’s care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of respiratory therapy care based on the fundamentals of the respiratory therapy care.
• Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by respiratory therapy standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with children, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
• Stay current with all unit and ChildServe specific information.
• Provide respiratory and related training to children, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
• Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.

What You’ll Need
