Job summary

LCMC Health in Louisiana is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our West Jefferson Medical Center team for nights. You will demonstrate proficiency in ventilator management, arterial punctures, airway support and critical care procedures.

You’ll monitor equipment, ensure infection control, document treatments, participate in planning, and communicate clearly with patients and families. Must hold NBRC-credentialed RRT, Louisiana licensure, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist with Louisiana licensure.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Current BLS and CPR certifications.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and ventilator management.
• Carry out arterial punctures and arterial line placement.
• Assist with bronchoscopy and airway management, including intubation.
• Monitor equipment and maintain safe operation.
• Adhere to infection control and aseptic technique.
• Document treatments accurately and participate in planning and problem solving.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families.

Your Everyday

• Demonstrate proficiency in critical and general care procedures including patient assessment, ventilator management, arterial punctures, code III response, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation, monitoring equipment, airway management, endo/nasotracheal suctioning, and arterial line placement, aerosol therapy, IPPB, CPT, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, aerochamber/inhaler, and peak flow meters.
• Organize and set priorities while assuring safe operation of all equipment needed for patient care and procedures within the established guidelines and timeframes.
• Manage equipment/supply needs appropriately.
• Demonstrate quality improvement commitment through accurate monitoring, documentation, and incidents.
• Participate in planning and problem solving.
• Adhere to BSI policies at all times.
• Perform treatments using aseptic technique when required.
• Follow, instruct and enforce others on infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe environment for everyone recognizing and taking action to correct unsafe conditions utilizing proper channels of communication.
• Communicate information regarding treatments ensuring patient’s or family members understanding, comprehension and active participation.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current American Heart Association (BLS, CPR) certifications.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
