This position involves providing patient care in critical care areas, step-down units, general care units, and during critical care transports.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure, and Certifications

High School diploma or GED required. Applicants must be licensed by the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy and certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care. BLS certification is preferred and required within 90 days of hire or transfer. ACLS and/or PALS certifications are also preferred.

Experience

Clinical experience gained during respiratory therapy training and the ability to function in critical settings, including initiation and support of mechanical ventilation. Experience with intubation and critical care transport is preferred.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment requiring quick task prioritization and adjustment. Ability to perform and recommend procedures related to bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, respiratory diagnostics, and all levels of mechanical ventilation.
