Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Dickinson, TX seeks a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide competent basic and specialty respiratory care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach tailored to each patient’s needs.

You will work under physician supervision, contribute to rounds, and help manage therapy plans. Responsibilities include assessing needs, configuring equipment, performing blood gases, documenting care, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy or completion of the associate degree equivalency.
• Successful passage of the NBRC exam.
• CRT or RRT certification; Texas licensure as an RCP; NBRC credential maintenance.
• Current BLS and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Assess the respiratory care needs of patients.
• Initiate, evaluate, and review respiratory care plans with multidisciplinary teams.
• Set up and maintain respiratory equipment.
• Perform blood gas analysis and respiratory function tests.
• Maintain patient records and provide patient/family instruction.
