Job summary

Essentia Health’s Respiratory Care Service at St. Joseph’s Medical Center seeks a Respiratory Therapist to perform emergent, critical, and restorative care in an acute inpatient setting.

You will manage mechanical ventilation, airway care, ABG procedures, and medication delivery, while educating patients and families. The role requires graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program and state licensure or pending licensure within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care/therapy program.
• NBRC certification preferred (RRT or CRT) if applicable.
• State licensure required or pending up to 30 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergent, critical and restorative respiratory care in an acute care inpatient setting.
• Perform procedures such as mechanical ventilation management, airway management, ABG puncture and medication delivery.
• Assist in bronchoscopy, critical care transport, bronchial hygiene, and patient education.

Job description

Provides emergent, critical and restorative respiratory care through patient assessment, intervention, education and evaluation. Within the acute care inpatient hospital setting, performs all general and critical care respiratory care procedures and diagnostics on patients ages neonate through adult. These duties include but are not limited to; mechanical ventilation management, airway management, bronchoscopy assist, critical care transport, arterial blood gas puncture, medication delivery, bronchial hygiene, patient assessments and education.

Education Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care/therapy program

Preferred Qualifications

Minnesota and North Dakota:

• Hold and maintain certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or a Certified Respiratory Therapist, or equivalent

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

• Must hold state licensure in appropriate state of practice upon hire or have applied and are waiting for state licensure in appropriate state of practice to award licensure not to exceed 30 days from date of hire
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 1 month of hire
