Qualifications

• Associate degree in respiratory care required
• Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field preferred
• RCP license required in Maryland/DC
• CRT certification required
• RRT certification preferred
• ACLS/NRP/PALS certifications required within 1 year where applicable

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards
• Assesses patient needs and documents education needs
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and manages equipment (oxygen, humidity, ventilators, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, EKG, blood gas)
• Employs therapeutic communication and problem solving in patient care
• Reviews EMR and physician orders during shift
• Responds to CPR and maintains airway and ventilation as needed
• Monitors workflow, interdepartmental systems and processes for improvements
• Follows all policies and uses organizational resources efficiently
• Complies with competency validation for served populations
