Job summary

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care under physician orders, aligned with MA regulatory standards. The role requires applying scientific principles with a collaborative approach to optimize patient health and function.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, formulating care plans, treatment, education, and documentation, plus involvement in the care of mechanically ventilated patients across all ages

Qualifications

• Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Massachusetts.
• Evidence of continuing education as required by the MA Board.
• Clinical competency equivalent to 3 years in critical care.
• CPR certification (BLS) required.
• Knowledge of age-specific needs across newborn to older adults.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and participate in the respiratory care plan.
• Treat and teach patients; maintain accurate records.
• Inservice training and involvement in management of ventilated patients.
• Provide respiratory services to newborns through geriatric patients.

Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to patients as prescribed by physicians, and as regulated by the Massachusetts Board of Registration, standards of practice of the American Association of Respiratory Care, and within the scope of department and hospital policies and procedures. The therapist applies scientific principles and a professional and collaborative approach to optimizing the patients health and function. He/she assesses the patients condition, participates in the formulation of the respiratory care plan, treats and teaches the patient, and maintains appropriate records. Responsibilities include inservice/training, and participation in the management of mechanically ventilated patients. Respiratory care services are provided to Newborn, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Evidence of continued education as required by the Board of Registration, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Demonstrated clinical competency equivalent to 3 year of critical care experience.
• CPR certification required (BLS).
• Knowledge of the special needs and behaviors of the infant, child, adolescent, adult, and older adult populations required.
