Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Lafayette, LA seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for patients from neonatal to geriatric. You will perform ABG analysis, monitor patients and assist with airway management under physician orders.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree (BS preferred), current LA RT license, NBRC-registered (RRT), BLS and ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in respiratory therapy is required.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication and data-entry abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced respiratory procedures per policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and coworkers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures and patient care across age groups.
• Adapts communication and care to diverse patient populations.
