Job description

*Responsibilities*

As a Respiratory Therapist at CHI Williston Health, you’ll join an established team of RTs who share your passion for caring for patients experiencing breathing issues. Our Respiratory Therapists are highly trained in delivering specialized cardiopulmonary care, including breathing techniques, ventilator management, nebulizer treatment, oxygen therapies, external ventilation support, and some pulmonary function assessments.

Your success in this role depends on your assessment skills and sense of urgency. You must remain calm and focused in emergent situations. Critical thinking enhances your care plans, enabling you to know what to do and anticipate outcomes.

  • Perform assessments of patients’ health, monitor continuously, detect changes in symptoms, and take necessary actions; assess patient care needs accurately and promptly.
  • Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Administer therapy modalities such as Handheld Nebulizer (HHN), HHN via metered dose inhaler (MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chesty Physical Therapy (CPT), and Pentamidine therapy.
  • Administer medical gas therapies, including oxygen and Helium-Oxygen Therapy (HeO2).
  • Perform ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems.
  • Record all care information accurately, completely, and timely, using appropriate formats and forms.
  • Maintain order, stock, and cleanliness of all departmental areas.
  • Practice safe work habits, comply with safety rules and regulations, and adhere to safety policies.
  • Utilize resources appropriately, following facility guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited college or technical school for Respiratory Therapy
Required Licensure and Certifications
  • RESP-LIC: North Dakota, required upon hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR), required upon hire.
  • ACLS, required upon hire.
  • NRP, required upon hire.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training
  • Established leadership skills
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork
