Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory patient care, including Aerosol Therapy, ABGs, ETTs, Bronchus, ECGs, CPT, Vent Care, CPAP/BIPAP therapy, and other Respiratory Care Procedures, following all department safety, risk management, and procedural standards.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions and takes corrective actions.
• Attends high-risk deliveries and C-sections to provide patient care within scope of practice.
• Under the direction of a Provider, performs activities related to ventilator/CPAP/Airway management, surfactant replacement, and other modalities of respiratory care.
• May be required to perform EEG studies.

Continually evaluates and assesses the cardiopulmonary condition of patients using data from physical examinations, respiratory monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.

• Determines the effectiveness and/or need for changes in therapy and makes recommendations to physicians and managers.
• Communicates patient assessments to nursing and other staff as appropriate.

Documents all work activities in applicable computer systems, including billing charges, following department-specific processes.

Participates in the transfer of equipment and supplies to and from other Cardiopulmonary Departments; cleans, assembles, maintains equipment, and restocks supplies as needed.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification

• License to practice as a respiratory care practitioner through the Washington State Department of Health is required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board of Respiratory Care is required (effective 10/1/19).
• Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
• ACLS Certification within six months of hire.
• PALS Certification within six months of hire; those hired before March 1, 2024, have 12 months.
• NRP Certification within six months of hire.
• Respiratory Therapists in Hyperbaric Medicine must attend a Certified Hyperbaric Training course and obtain the Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) license within 120 days.

Pay Range

$37.01 - $54.87/hour
