Job summary

North Memorial Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide high level life support, ventilator management and cross-divisional clinical support. The role includes airway management, oxygen therapy and education across patient ages from newborns to geriatrics.

The position requires Minnesota RT license, BLS, and completion of ACLS/NRP/PALS within the specified timeframe. Shift: nights, on-site at our Robbinsdale/Maple Grove campuses.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved JRCRTE/COARC respiratory care program.
  • Experience in a medical acute care environment.
  • Current Minnesota RT license and BLS certification.
  • ACLS, NRP and PALS within 3 months of hire.
  • Willingness to work nights and every 3rd weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Administer airway management and ventilator support.
  • Provide oxygen/airway therapies and related treatments.
  • CPR, patient transport, and cross-divisional support.
  • Educate staff and participate in clinical quality initiatives.
  • Assist newborn to geriatric patients as needed.

About This Position

Provides high performance technical expertise, focused and specialized in life support measures, code response, and the care and diagnosis of both acute and chronic pulmonary disorders. Respiratory Therapists also provide a cross-divisional resource for clinical support and education in the Medical Center. Provides for the administration of airway management, mechanical ventilator application and management, therapeutic respiratory care services, oxygen and aerosol therapy, limited diagnostic services, near-patient testing (NPT), CPR, customer transport, customer education, and other special services as provided in the department scope of services. These services may include newborn, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric customer groups, including acute and chronic care conditions.

Requirements
Education
  • Graduate of an approved JRCRTE/COARC respiratory care program
Experience
  • Training and experience in a medical acute care environment
  • Some positions may require experience in one or more of the following specialized areas:
  • Diagnostics-PFT/Bronchoscopy
  • Pulmonary/Rehab
  • Equipment Specialist
  • Charge
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively, organize and prioritize assignments, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
  • Current RCP scope of practice at North Memorial for non-specific assignment.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current Minnesota RT License (Team members must meet all annual requirements for renewal including mandated CEU's)
  • Must be currently certified as a BLS provider
NMHC Standard
  • Must be currently certified as ACLS Provider (excludes therapists assigned to pulmonary rehab and equipment specialist).

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
NMHC Standard
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) must be obtained within one year of hire date if hired after January 1, 2017, NMHC Standard
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 3 months of hire date (excludes therapists assigned to pulmonary rehab and equipment specialist). NMHC Standard
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire date (excludes therapists assigned to pulmonary rehab and equipment specialist). NMHC Standard

Salary Range: Respiratory & RRT Therapists ($41.20 - $56.00), based on experience
