Responsibilities

Compensation: $38.00 per hour
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with an every-other-weekend rotation
Experience Requirement: Experienced respiratory therapists only; new graduates will not be considered.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Respiratory Therapist for a permeant position at a 124-bed skilled nursing facility providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. The Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory assessments, treatments, monitoring, education, and support for residents with acute, chronic, and complex respiratory conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents’ respiratory status and identify changes in condition.
• Provide respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and suctioning as prescribed.
• Monitor and manage respiratory equipment and oxygen systems.
• Assist with airway management and ventilator or other respiratory support needs, when applicable.
• Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans.
• Monitor residents’ response to treatment and communicate concerns to nursing staff and providers.
• Support short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term care residents with ongoing respiratory needs.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding respiratory conditions, medications, treatments, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in care conferences and collaborate with nursing, therapy, and medical staff.
• Respond appropriately to respiratory emergencies and changes in residents’ conditions.
• Follow infection-control procedures, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
• Assist with discharge planning and provide instructions for continued respiratory care when appropriate.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license or certification required by applicable state regulations.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, acute care, or a similar setting required.
• Strong assessment, communication, organization, and clinical judgment skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ability to work the required Monday–Friday schedule and every-other-weekend rotation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reposition residents as needed.
• Ability to work around respiratory illnesses and infectious conditions while using appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Ability to respond promptly to urgent and emergency situations.
