Job summary

AdventHealth in Littleton, Colorado is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night shifts on a part-time schedule. The role supports patients across neonate to geriatric ages, performing therapies, monitoring ventilators and delivering safe airway management.

The candidate will document thoroughly in the EMR, adhere to infection control, and participate in family-inclusive teaching plans. License requirements include CRT or RRT with CPR/ACLS and NRP/PALS credentials.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments and monitors equipment.

• Performs arterial punctures for ABG analysis and evaluates results.
• Documents data in the patient record after service and ensures accuracy.

Job Description:

Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric.Follows best practices to reduce potential medication errors. Performs all duties and responsibilities for the assigned shift. Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record after completing service. Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each. Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects. Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures. Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning. Performs arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for gas analysis, understanding complications and contraindications. Assesses patient needs and tolerance for treatment, reassessing responses to therapy. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly, inspecting and testing to ensure functionality. Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate.Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to appropriately initiate, operate, manage, and liberate non-invasive and invasive modes of mechanical ventilation [Required]
• Ability to perform ABG Puncture, analysis, arterial cannulation using sterile procedure, and hemodynamic monitoring [Required]
• Ventilator patient transportation [Required]
• Knowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system [Required]
• Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate'sin Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ years experience as a respiratory therapist [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Required] OR
• RegisteredRespiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
