Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Respiratory Therapist who can perform all modes of respiratory care across age groups, from perinatal to geriatric, in a fast-paced acute care setting. The role requires MA licensure, AMA-approved program, BLS, and ongoing CEUs; you will document in the EMR, participate in performance improvement, and maintain ventilators and ABG equipment.

A signing bonus may be available.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed in the state of Massachusetts in respiratory care.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (BLSHP).
  • Maintenance of CEU’s in accordance with the regulation of licensure in the state of Massachusetts

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Documents care activity and charges in the hospital EMR.
  • Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates competency in utilization and maintenance of arterial blood gas machines.
  • Demonstrates competency in proper setup and utilization of all mechanical ventilators.
  • Demonstrates competency in proper setup and utilization of the V60 NIPPV.
  • Demonstrates competency in proper setup and utilization of all High Flow Oxygen Therapy systems.
  • Demonstrates competency in the disinfection, transport and setup of all non-disposable equipment.
  • Adheres to the Hospitals’ Standards of Behavior.
  • Completes all hospital and department annual competencies.

The therapist is expected to be able to perform all modes of Respiratory care as defined in the department policy and procedure manual. These tasks will include, but are not limited too, delivery of small volume nebulizers, drawing of arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways and mechanical ventilation. The therapist must be competent to deliver these therapies to all age groups ranging from perinatal to geriatric.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $27.90 - $61.79 Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Major Responsibilities

  • 6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • 7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications
  • 1. Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements. Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
