Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an experienced team delivering cardiopulmonary care. The role covers aerosol therapy, vent care, CPAP/BIPAP, and oxygen therapies across routine and emergent settings.

You will apply strong assessment and critical thinking to develop and modify care plans, ensuring calm, focused patient intervention. A per diem differential of 15% is included in base pay for this position.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• WA Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required on hire.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP within designated timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures including aerosol therapy and ventilator management.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and adjust therapy as needed.
• Attend high risk deliveries and C-sections for patient care within scope.
• Support airway management and CPAP/BIPAP and surfactant administration as directed.
• Evaluate cardiopulmonary status using exams, monitoring, and diagnostics.
• Recommend therapy adjustments to physicians and management.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.

• Performs respiratory patient care to include Aerosol Therapy, ABGs, ETTs, Bronchus, ECGs, CPT, Vent Care, CPAP/BIPAP therapy and other Respiratory Care Procedures in accordance with all department safety, risk management and procedural standards.


• Monitors patients for adverse reaction, and takes corrective action.


• Attends high-risk deliveries and C/sections, performing patient care within scope of practice.


• Under direction of a Provider, performs activities relating to ventilator/CPAP/Airway management, surfactant replacement and all other modalities of respiratory care within scope of practice.


• Continually evaluates and assesses the cardiopulmonary condition of patients using data acquired from physical examination, respiratory monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.


• Determine the effectiveness and/or need for change in the therapy being administered and make recommendations to the physicians and/or Manager regarding treatment.

**This position is eligible for a 15% per diem differential added to base rate of pay**
