Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our established RT team delivering cardiopulmonary care to patients with breathing issues. You will perform a range of treatments, including aerosol therapy, ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and CPAP/BIPAP support, in a modern hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy and one year recent clinical experience in Respiratory Care.
• WA Respiratory Care Practitioner license upon hire
• Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire
• Basic Life Support CPR upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory care including Aerosol Therapy, ABGs, ETTs, CPT, Vent Care, CPAP/BIPAP per standards.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions and takes corrective action.
• Attends high-risk deliveries and C-sections, performing patient care within scope.
• Under Provider direction, assists with ventilator/CPAP, airway management, surfactant replacement and other modalities.
• Evaluates cardiopulmonary status using exams, monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.
• Assesses therapy effectiveness and makes recommendations to physicians or manager.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

• Performs respiratory patient care to include Aerosol Therapy, ABGs, ETTs, Bronchus, ECGs, CPT, Vent Care, CPAP/BIPAP therapy and other Respiratory Care Procedures in accordance with all department safety, risk management and procedural standards.
• Monitors patients for adverse reaction, and takes corrective action.
• Attends high-risk deliveries and C/sections, performing patient care within scope of practice.
• Under direction of a Provider, performs activities relating to ventilator/CPAP/Airway management, surfactant replacement and all other modalities of respiratory care within scope of practice.
• Continually evaluates and assesses the cardiopulmonary condition of patients using data acquired from physical examination, respiratory monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.
• Determine the effectiveness and/or need for change in the therapy being administered and make recommendations to the physicians and/or Manager regarding treatment.
