Job summary

Northampton Post Acute, supported by Marquis Health Consulting Services, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a full-time position. The role involves assessment, treatment, and education for residents requiring respiratory support across the care continuum.

Must have RRT credential and state licensure; minimum 3 years' experience preferred, including tracheostomy and ventilator management in skilled nursing facilities or hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations.
• Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team to develop and modify treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic testing including lung capacity measurements and ABG evaluation.
• Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen and chest physiotherapy.
• Manage ventilator-dependent residents and initiate ventilator support when necessary.
• Monitor residents' respiratory status and equipment function.
• Educate residents and families on treatments and equipment use.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and progress.

Responsibilities for Respiratory Therapist:

• Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations for a diverse resident population.
• Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic testing, including lung capacity measurements and evaluation of blood gas levels.
• Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
• Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents, including initiation of ventilator support when necessary.
• Conduct regular monitoring of residents' respiratory status and ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment.
• Educate residents and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and medication administration.
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and resident progress in accordance with clinical standards.

Qualifications for Respiratory Therapist:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care required.
• Current state licensure required.
• Minimum of 3 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a skilled nursing facility, LTACH, or hospital setting required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage residents, families, and clinical teams.
