Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join a tenured team delivering bedside care across ICUs, ED, and bronchoscopy programs. You’ll work with advanced technology, including the Intuitive Ion robotic bronchoscopy system, to support early, accurate diagnoses and high-quality patient care.

Ideal candidates are NBRC-certified RRT or CRT, licensed in Iowa, with BLS and NRP within 1 year.

Qualifications

• RRT or CRT certification from NBRC.
• Iowa license to practice respiratory care.
• BLS certification.
• NRP within 1 year of hire.
• Commitment to patient education and safety.
• Ability to work in ICU/ED and bronchoscopy program.

Responsabilités

• Deliver bedside respiratory care per physician orders and protocols.
• Manage ventilator setup, airway maintenance, and monitoring for critical care patients.
• Respond to code blues, MET calls, high-risk deliveries, and C-sections.
• Set up and monitor CPAP and BiPAP therapy.
• Perform ABG collection and analysis using I-Stat technology.
• Assist physicians with bedside bronchoscopy.
• Perform EKGs and related documentation.
• Conduct oximetry checks and sleep studies.
• Educate patients on respiratory therapies and equipment.
• Maintain and clean respiratory equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver bedside respiratory care according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Manage ventilator setup, airway maintenance, and monitoring for critical care patients of all ages.
• Respond to code blues, MET calls, high-risk deliveries, and C-sections across the hospital.
• Set up and monitor CPAP and BiPAP therapy.
• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis using I-Stat technology.
• Assist physicians with bedside bronchoscopies in a modern bronchoscopy suite.
• Perform EKGs in the Emergency Department and related documentation.
• Conduct oximetry checks and sleep studies.
• Provide patient education on respiratory therapies and equipment.
• Maintain respiratory equipment and ensure proper cleaning and function.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of respiratory anatomy, physiology and therapeutic modalities
• Ability to assess patient status quickly and respond appropriately in critical situations
• Confidence working in high-acuity environments, such as ICU and Emergency Department
• Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses and care teams
• Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

What We’re Looking For

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner License required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year of hire (except PFT staff)
• Iowa Child & Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training
