Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a part-time, night-shift PRN role in the Davenport area. The position supports a variety of respiratory therapies across neonatal to geriatric patients.

New grads are welcome, and a relocation package is offered with a generous night shift differential. The team emphasizes comprehensive benefits including wellness programs and education reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Must be credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by NBRC.
• Must have an active Iowa license as a respiratory care practitioner.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• ACLS certification preferred within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs inhaled medication therapy and arterial blood gas analysis.
• Assists in CPR and manages artificial airways as needed.
• Operates and troubleshoots respiratory care equipment including ventilators.
• Interprets diagnostic results and reports blood gas and pulmonary function data.
• Performs record keeping and medical documentation.
• Provides patient instruction on respiratory care devices and procedures.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Join the MercyOne Family! As Respiratory Therapist you will perform patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring of patient. These services are provided as appropriate for patient age to include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric adult.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium-oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide-oxygen therapy, nitric oxide-oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, high-frequency oscillator therapy, and ventilatory support modalities as ordered by physician.

• Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.

• Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors.

• Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry.

• Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions.

• Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be credentialed as a certified or registered respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.

• Must have an active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire.

• Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.

• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. Prefer ACLS certification within one year of hire.
