Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic tests on the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems of patients to assist physicians and advanced practice practitioners in diagnosing and treating heart, lung, and blood vessel disorders. The therapist administers respiratory care modalities and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiovascular system under the supervision of a physician or advanced practice practitioner.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

1. Education: Graduate from an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy is required.
2. License/Certifications: Valid state license in Respiratory Care, RRT, or CRRT is required. Current BLS certification is required. ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required or must be obtained within one year of employment or as per department guidelines.
3. Experience: At least one year of acute care experience is preferred.
4. Additional Skills/Requirements: N/A
