Applicants will be considered at all levels of the respiratory therapist career ladder. Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects the level of education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.
Responsibilities:
·Advanced Respiratory Care:Demonstrates advanced knowledge in high-risk modalities specific to the business entity, including Nitric Oxide (NO) administration and Tracheal Gas Insufflation (TGI).
·Therapy Administration:Effectively administers all therapies and performs advanced functions in non-traditional settings such as the OR, ED, Cath Lab, Lung Center, Recovery areas, and Transport.
·Specialized Procedures:Performs bronchoscopy, Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour Holter monitoring hook-up and scanning as needed.
·Patient Monitoring:Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patients with breathing exercises.
·Consultation:Consults with physicians in the event of adverse reactions and maintains patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information.
·Equipment Management:Orders repairs when needed and inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and efficient functioning.
·Training and Supervision:Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare personnel, supervises students during training, and functions as a senior-level resource to other staff.
·Patient Transport:Assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to all code situations.
·Clinical Evaluation:Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders and interprets clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
·General Duties:Performs the duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT, including reading prescriptions, measuring arterial blood gases, reviewing patient information, setting up and operating devices, and observing equipment function to ensure optimal therapy results.
