As a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, patient care is your top priority because building an excellent team that delivers extraordinary care starts with you. Responsible for instructing, supervising and evaluating respiratory therapy team members and patient sessions, you guide and mentor staff and advise on treatment protocols.

Your growth as a respiratory therapist and a leader has developed through experience and training. Organizing, directing, and supervising the daily activities of clinical and support team members, you maintain quality diagnostic and therapeutic services for your respiratory care patients.

Your Everyday

• Evaluate the quality of respiratory therapy care and programs.
• Ensure staff follow regulatory compliance requirements and standard procedures.
• Assist in departmental operations by coordinating staff assignments/schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
• Monitor staff performance through direct observation and conduct chart reviews to evaluate compliance with quality standards.
• Identify and address educational needs.
• Disseminate relevant hospital and departmental information via daily huddle and staff meetings.
• Solve minor and immediate issues as necessary.
• Inspect department and complete routine environmental and safety rounds to ensure all procedures and protocols are followed and safety issues are reported.
• Ensure accuracy of reporting by conducting chart audits.
• Participate in establishing and enforcing performance improvement initiatives.
• Participate in leadership training and mandatory in-services.

The Must-Haves

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - American Heart Association.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association
