Qualifications

• Requires 3 years Pediatric Critical Care experience.

• National Board for Respiratory Care certification (NBRC).
• RT license in state of practice.
• BLS and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, and terminates staff in consultation with leadership.
• Directs and supervises respiratory care staff and activities.
• Monitors staffing, scheduling, and per diem use.
• Communicates with the Director to inform policy and practice changes.
• Monitors quality indicators and identifies issues.
• Stays current with respiratory care trends and best practices.
• Ensures equipment maintenance to prevent hazards.

Job Description

The Respiratory Services Manager at Shriners Children's Chicago provides leadership, direction, and oversight for all respiratory care services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care for pediatric patients with complex respiratory needs. This role focuses on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and staff development within a specialized pediatric hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, and recommends termination of employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and in consultation with the Director
• Communicates job duties to staff in a clear, understandable, and concise manner; plans, directs, and supervises work of assigned staff utilizing positive communications and effective problem solving skills
• Evaluates department staffing/scheduling requirements, taking into account requests forholiday/vacation time; recommends appropriate use of per diem staff
• Communicates in an appropriate and timely manner with Director; seeks input, provides accurate information and makes recommendations for policy and/or practice change
• Monitors appropriate quality indicators; identifies real problems and issues
• Keeps informed of recent developments and trends in the field
• Ensures patient care equipment is not responsible for any hazard or injury to a patient or staff through ongoing preventativemaintenance as outlined by policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• RT License in state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Respiratory Therapy
• Certificate Respiratory Therapy

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
