St. Marys Medical Center in West Palm Beach is seeking a Respiratory Student Extern for per diem work.

You will rotate shifts and support respiratory therapists by assembling, transporting, disinfecting, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment, while maintaining supplies across care areas. Responsibilities include assisting therapists with procedures and equipment maintenance and ensuring readiness of devices for patient care.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a respiratory therapy program.
• Previous healthcare-related experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.

Responsible for performing multiple duties that require experience in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment. The Respiratory Student Extern works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The extern is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various work areas and assisting Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks as directed.

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
Preferred: 2nd year Respiratory Therapy student with previous healthcare experience

Experience:
Previous experience with assembly and cleaning or respiratory equipment

License:
NA

Certifications:
BLS/CPR (AMERICAN HEART ASSN)
ACLS & PALS prior to graduation
