A typical day for a Respiratory Equipment Technician may include:

• Supplying oxygen and other compressed gas cylinders throughout the Medical Center.
• Processing, cleaning, and preparing respiratory equipment for safe utilization.
• Performing scheduled equipment calibrations, electrical safety tests (ESTs), and routine maintenance.
• Troubleshooting ventilators and other respiratory equipment and performing minor repairs when needed.
• Replenishing respiratory supplies in designated areas and documenting equipment or supply concerns.
• Responding promptly to oxygen refill requests for code carts.
• Stocking shelves, closets, and satellite storage areas to ensure respiratory supplies are readily available.
• Processing contaminated equipment for future use in accordance with safety and infection-control procedures.
• Providing prompt, courteous, and compassionate service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
• Maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient rights at all times.
• Taking responsibility for section operations in the absence of the manager.
