Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Respiratory Equipment Technician to service and prepare respiratory care devices for patient use. The role includes disassembly, cleaning, reassembly and preventive maintenance to ensure readiness.

The technician will manage consumable and capital inventories, document charges for modalities rendered, and coordinate warranty shipments or repairs as needed. Day/evening shifts and every-other-weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate (or GED) is required.
• Preferred: previous work experience with respiratory care equipment.
• Willing to work day or evening shift and every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, reassemble and perform preventive maintenance on select respiratory care equipment.
• Verify operational readiness of equipment before use.
• Organize, monitor and maintain consumable and capital inventory levels.
• Document charges in the computer for modalities rendered on the previous day.
• Identify equipment repairs which can be done internally; ships warranty items for repair; orders items via Central Supply.
