Health First in Florida is seeking an RT Equipment Tech to prepare, transport, set up, and check respiratory care equipment, and to distribute medical gas cylinders as needed, under supervision of Respiratory Therapy leadership.

The role involves rounds, equipment checks, and assisting with stock management. It requires active RT program enrollment, BLS certification prior to start, and the ability to float to all hospital locations. Per diem schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required prior to start date and maintained.
• Ability to float to all hospital locations and participate in prolonged CPR procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides non-direct patient care support services for the respiratory therapy department.
• Handles and distributes medical gas cylinders as appropriate.
• Makes rounds to assigned areas to deliver, check, change and set up equipment.
• Assists supply chain in the management of stock and inventory of respiratory supplies.
• Maintains respiratory supply areas to optimal par levels while ensuring cleanliness.
• Coordinates with unit leaders to maintain clean and organized stock/supply rooms.
• Handles change out of expired supplies.
• Floats to any unit to offer assistance within scope.

The RT Equipment Tech will prepare, transport, set up and check respiratory care equipment in both routine and emergency situations and distribute medical gas cylinders when necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Active student enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy training program
• Work Experience: Previous experience in hospital setting preferred
• Certification: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Must be able to float to all hospital locations
• Must be able to participate in prolonged CPR procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Moderate

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or over head.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
