Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to design and direct cardiovascular and respiratory clinical research across all development stages, from pre-clinical to post-licensure.

You will oversee trial design, execution, monitoring, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication, collaborating with diverse teams. The position requires an MD or MD/PhD, 3+ years clinical medicine, and 1+ year industry drug development experience, with strong communication and leadership

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD required.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research.
• Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct clinical research activities for cardiovascular and respiratory medicines across all development phases.
• Provide medical oversight and conduct of clinical trials for investigational or marketed drugs.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety, efficacy, regulatory decisions, or publications.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to support development opportunities and business assessments.
• Travel ~20% of the time to manage projects and external collaborations.
