Job summary

Merck is seeking a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) in the Oncology Hematology section to lead clinical research across all development stages, including planning, execution, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication. This role is based in the United States with flexible remote arrangements.

The position requires an MD or MD/PhD and a track record in clinical medicine and biomedical research, with experience in industry or senior academia.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD required.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research in academia.
• Proven record of scientific scholarship and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Plan clinical trials and design operational plans.
• Provide medical oversight and conduct of clinical trials for investigational or marketed drugs.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety and efficacy decisions and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external researchers for development programs.
• Support business development assessments of external opportunities.
