Job summary

FMOL Health in Bogalusa, LA is seeking a Respiratory Care Assistant to support the department by cleaning and disinfecting patient equipment, sterilizing reusable items, assembling and calibrating ventilators and other respiratory devices, and supervising and training Respiratory Therapy Aids.

The role includes auditing charges and charting for accuracy, maintaining stock in respiratory supply areas, and ensuring adherence to safety, infection control, and quality standards to deliver

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current student in an accredited respiratory program.
• May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance – sterilizes reusable equipment, maintains inventory in decontamination and stock rooms, orders essential supplies, establishes and maintains PAR levels to avoid waste and ensure conservation of hospital materials.
• Equipment Management – maintains department capital equipment inventory, coordinates preventive maintenance, performs performance checks and calibrations on ventilators and other critical equipment before returning them to service, orders critical equipment for rental, ensures prompt return of rented equipment to minimize expense.
• Supervises and trains the Respiratory Therapy Aids in the performance of their jobs.
• Performs charge and charting audits.
• Quality – knowledgeable of and complies with applicable federal and state laws and the OLOLRMC Standards of Conduct; observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards and quality patient care standards.
• Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high quality health care services.
• Other Duties As Assigned – performs other duties as assigned or requested.
