Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center invites a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its respiratory care team. You will perform adult and neonatal respiratory procedures, manage ventilator support, ABG analysis and PFTs under indirect supervision of the medical director.

Required are BLS, ACLS, NBRC registration and Texas licensure, with at least 6 months of experience. The role is based in Dallas, with a patient-centered, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Texas Medical Board licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Registered by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care).
• Minimum 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation: bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical records.
• Perform appropriate actions using critical thinking skills.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment: ventilators, oxygen analyzers, airways, gas delivery devices, gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as required.
