Atlantic Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide cardiopulmonary care under physician supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, delivering aerosol therapies, operating ventilators, monitoring responses, and coordinating with the medical team.

The role involves chest physiotherapy, pulmonary function testing support, charting, and patient education for chronic lung disease. On-site care for diverse patient populations is expected.

Responsabilités

• Evaluates prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and checks patient information to assess condition and determine therapy requirements.
• Renders aerosol medications and treatments to patients for inhalation and positions patients to aid breathing.
• Determines the most suitable method of administering inhalants and any precautions, aligned with physician orders.
• Sets up and operates devices such as ventilators and aerosol generators to support respiration and oxygen supply.
• Operates equipment to maintain specified treatment parameters (volume, gas concentration, humidity, temperature).
• Monitors patients’ physiological responses during therapy (vital signs, ABGs, blood chemistry).
• Performs chest physiotherapy to help clear mucus and assists with breathing exercises.
• Assists in diagnostic testing by performing pulmonary function tests for physician diagnosis.
• Observes equipment function and adjusts to optimize therapy results.
• Consults with physicians in case of adverse reactions.
• Maintains patient charts with therapy information and inspects equipment for safety; orders repairs if needed.
• Provides patient education and support for chronic lung disease management.
• Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare staff.
• May care for premature infants, elderly patients, and trauma cases with pulmonary or cardiac concerns.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
