Job summary

Bestica is hiring a Respiratory Care Provider Instructor to support the United States Air Force’s CCATT training program at Cincinnati, OH. The role requires delivery of didactic, simulation, and hands-on instruction aligned with military air transport standards.

The ideal candidate will have NBRC RRT credential, an active RT license, 5+ years in acute care (2+ in critical care), and BLS/ALS certifications.

Qualifications

• NBRC RRT credential and CRT or RRT required.
• Active, unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in any US state.
• Minimum five years clinical experience in acute care, with at least two in critical care.
• Current certifications in BLS and ALS.
• Complete the Basic Instructors Course (BIC) within 60 days of hire and 60 instructor hours.
• Ability to lift under 50 pounds and operate simulation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver didactic, simulation, and hands‑on curricula.
• Instruct to USAF CCATT standards including in-flight care.
• Deliver role-specific weekly duties with scripted tasks.
• Train on Aerospace Physiology, altitude medicine, and hypoxia risks.
• Teach Emergency Airway Management and Ventilation for altitude.
• Coach ABG interpretation and oxygen therapy adjustments.
• Maintain safety, equipment handling, and compliance in flight.
• Engage in peer review and professional development.

Bestica is hiring for a Respiratory Care Provider Instructor to provide their services at Wright Patterson Air Force Base located in Dayton, OH.

Description of services

The contractor shall meet all requirements for a contract Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) to support the United States Air Force’s Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) training program. The contractor shall provide expert-level instruction, simulation support, and simulated ground and in-flight clinical oversight during training events. The RCP shall ensure that all CCATT students receive advanced respiratory care education and practical experience necessary to manage complex patients in simulated operational environments. The contractor shall support 711 HPW, USAFSAM En Route Care Training Department (ET) to serve as an RCP for CSTARS Critical Care Air Transport Course-Advanced (CCAT-A), located in Cincinnati, OH. The RCP shall work under the general technical, administrative supervision of the CSTARS Cincinnati site director.

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and hold either a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. (No patient care).
• Possess and maintain an active, unrestricted license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in any U.S. state or territory.
• Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in acute care settings, with at least two (2) years in critical care.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS).
• Shall complete the Basic Instructors Course (BIC) within 60 days of hire, then complete 60 instructor hours to be qualified.
• Contractor must be able to lift < 50 pounds and move human patient simulation equipment to and from training areas, work in low-light, high-volume environments, and differing weather conditions simulating actual aeromedical evacuation missions.

Highly Desired Qualifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
• Prior military or CCAT aeromedical evacuation experience.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• The instructor shall work under the supervision of the site director. Plans, develops and delivers didactic, simulation, and hands-on lesson plan curricula as required.
• The instructor shall provide high-quality academic and hands-on instruction aligned with military and civilian air transport standards, including patient stabilization, aeromedical evacuation procedures, and in-flight critical care management.
• The instructor will be assigned to a specific role when on the course which is for the entire week with scripted responsibilities.
• The instructor shall be responsible for the development and delivery of respiratory therapy training, ensuring students gain competency in the following areas:
• Aerospace Physiology & Altitude Medicine: Educating students on barometric pressure changes, hypoxia risks, gas expansion effects, and other physiological challenges in air transport medicine.
• Emergency Airway Management & Ventilation: Training students in advanced airway techniques, ventilator management, and adapting mechanical ventilation for altitude changes.
• Pulmonary Function Testing & Blood Gas Analysis: Teaching students how to interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) results in flight conditions, adjusting oxygen therapy accordingly.
• Aeromedical Equipment & Flight Adaptations: Demonstrating setup, calibration, and operation of critical care transport ventilators, monitors, and oxygen systems used in military and civilian transport aircraft.
• Cardiac & Pulmonary Resuscitation in Transport: Conducting resuscitation training, including external cardiac compression and emergency intervention while transporting (or while en route).
• Preparing students for rapid patient evacuation scenarios, including adapting care in combat zones, disaster response, or humanitarian missions.
• The instructor shall engage in peer review and professional development, participating in simulated aeromedical evacuation exercises and continuing education programs.
• The instructor shall uphold safety and compliance standards in aeromedical education, ensuring proper handling of medical equipment in flight conditions and adherence to military transport protocols.
• Create and maintain lesson plans, educational objectives, and instructional materials in accordance with USAF CCATT guidelines
• Provide instruction using medical simulation equipment and high-fidelity manikins to replicate in-flight scenarios.
• Support evaluation of student competencies via written exams, practical demonstrations, and oral valuations.
• Participate in curriculum review boards and incorporate current evidence-based clinical practices into training content.
