Job summary

University of Southern California Verdugo Hills Hospital seeks a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care under supervision, assessing cardio-pulmonary status and operating respiratory equipment for diagnosis and treatment.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (bachelor's preferred), 1–2 years of acute care experience, and a valid California RCP license with RRT/CRT if hired after 2019; NRP, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an Acute Care Hospital setting preferred.
• California Respiratory Care Practitioner License required; RRT/CRT licensure required for hires after 2019.
• NRP, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required by American Heart Association.
• AB 508 Certification required annually; renewal within 30 days if not on hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' cardio-pulmonary status and monitor respiratory conditions.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.

Job description

Under direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, and as directed by physician, provide for excellent patient care through the assessment of patients' cardio-pulmonary status, by set up and operation of various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness and by interdisciplinary team member collaboration.

Minimum Education: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy, bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy preferred.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge: 1-2 years of experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in an Acute Care Hospital setting preferred.

Required License/Certification: Valid California Respiratory Care Practitioner License. RRT and CRT Licensure required for employees hired 11/01/19 or later. NRP, BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required from the American Heart Association. Annual AB 508 Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

The hourly rate range for this position is $43.60 – $58.67.
