Job summary

Uw Medical Center-montlake is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technologist to perform pulmonary function tests and assist in operating the Lung Function Testing department. The role reports to the department Manager and is part-time, 30 hours per week, with first shift scheduling in Seattle area.

Responsibilities include routine respiratory care, ABG punctures, and coordination with physicians and staff. The position emphasizes proficiency with diagnostic equipment and educating patients on testing

Qualifications

  • Completion of a respiratory care program approved by the State of Washington.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington.
  • 1–2 yrs of experience as a PFT or in a Lung Function Testing department.

  • Proficient in arterial blood gas punctures and oxygen support.
  • Proficient with diagnostic equipment and procedures.
  • Coordinates patient scheduling with other departments, physicians, and staff requests.
  • Maintains department policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports for physician and regulatory review.
  • Coordinates and schedules technicians for the LFT lab.
  • Educates patients, families, and staff on pulmonary diagnostic procedures and equipment.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The role of the Pulmonary Function Technologist is to conduct pulmonary function tests and assist with the operation of the Lung Function Testing department. The Pulmonary Function Technologist works under the supervision of the department Manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Provides routine respiratory care (i.e., administration of medical gases, administration of prescribed pharmacological agents, etc.)
  • Proficient in all clinical aspects of patient care (i.e., arterial blood gas punctures, oxygen support).
  • Proficient in all technical aspects of diagnostic equipment and procedures.
  • Coordinates patient scheduling with other departments, physicians, and staff requests.
  • Maintains department policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports for physician and regulatory body review.
  • Coordinates and schedules technicians for the LFT lab.
  • Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and set up pulmonary function equipment.
  • Educates patients, families, and other staff members on pulmonary diagnostic procedures and equipment.
Required Position Qualifications
  • Completion of a respiratory care program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Legal Requirement - Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington
  • 1-2 yrs of experience as a PFT or work within a Lung Function Testing department.
