Job Summary

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support to patients in all areas of the medical center, including neonatal intensive care, with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system under physician supervision and prescription. Performs other patient comfort duties to maintain patient care flow in the unit.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Quality of Service:
  • Demonstrates professional conduct, respect, and dignity towards members, coworkers, and employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality of medical records and communication.
  • Greet members promptly and courteously, addressing adults by proper titles and last names unless mutually agreed otherwise.
  • Adheres to courtesy and communication guidelines during telephone interactions, documenting call details accurately.
  • Provides timely and appropriate messages to healthcare providers, prioritizing emergency and non-urgent messages.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge and skills across all patient age groups: neonatal, pediatric, and adult. Participates in patient care rounds, assesses patient needs, and provides appropriate therapy. Evaluates data from respiratory monitoring devices, documents findings, and recommends care modifications considering age and development. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, manages medications, and responds to emergencies. Ensures infection control, performs blood gas analyses, and maintains equipment. Documents care accurately, manages supplies, and adheres to safety protocols. Maintains productivity and demonstrates flexibility and professionalism. Participates in training and education, functioning independently at advanced levels in adult and neonatal critical care areas.

Experience and Education
  • At least 1 year of recent NICU experience within the past 12 months.
  • Graduate of an accredited 2-year Respiratory Care program.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate
  • Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements
  • CPFT or RPFT from NBRC required for PFT Lab roles.
  • Ability to work independently in various critical care areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PALS and S.T.A.B.L.E. certification preferred.
  • Two years recent NICU experience preferred.
Notes
  • Must have NICU and Adult experience, able to function independently.
  • Shift options include 12-hour shifts, with specific timings noted.
