Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree related to respiratory therapy/healthcare (preferred).
  • Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working (required).
  • NBRC credentialed (required).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (required).
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association (required).
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association (required).
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AAP/AWHONN (preferred).
  • CPFT (preferred).
  • RPFT (preferred).
  • ACCS NBRC (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license (required for Home Care/DME).

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care through assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation.
  • Perform procedures including oxygen, aerosolized meds, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene, diagnostics, and staff education.
  • Monitor patient response and adjust therapies based on assessment.
  • May serve as shift Charge Therapist to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Assist with bronchoscopy, transtracheal catheter insertion, tracheotomy care, and invasive monitoring.
  • Conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to maintain a patient airway.
  • Instruct patients and families on procedures and proper use of therapy equipment.
  • Respond to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and participate as needed.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • The Respiratory Care Practitioner II is responsible for providing respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation.
  • Performs all respiratory care procedures including but not limited to oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostic services and patient and staff education.
  • Monitors the patient's response to such therapies and makes recommendations to change or modify based on the assessment.
  • May serve as the shift “Charge Therapist” with responsibility of ensuring adequate number of respiratory care staff to cover patient care areas and needs.
  • Assists with procedures such as bronchoscopy, transtracheal catheter insertion, tracheotomy intubation, assists with tracheostomy endotracheal tube changes and invasive monitoring.
  • Conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve maintenance of a patient airway.
  • Instructs patients and families in various therapeutic procedures and ensures effective use of respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Responds to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and actively participates as indicated by clinical circumstances.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, Related to Respiratory Therapy/Health care/Healthcare Admin/Business Admin (preferred)
  • Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working (required)
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed (required)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred)
