Job description

To provide therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care interventions under physician direction, based on assessment and communication with other healthcare professionals to treat cardio-pulmonary and related disorders.

Responsibilities include:

1. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation: Provide basic and advanced cardiac life support interventions, including airway management, chest compressions, and diagnostic measurements. Effectiveness measured by patient survival, physician observation, and quality assurance monitoring.
2. Critical Care: Manage neonatal, pediatric, and adult life-support equipment; perform patient assessments; develop and evaluate care plans collaboratively. Effectiveness measured by patient survival, observations by physicians and nurses, and quality assurance.
3. Therapeutic Procedures: Ensure respiratory sufficiency, perform therapeutic interventions, assess patient response, and educate patients. Maintain medical records. Effectiveness monitored through quality assurance and reports.
4. Diagnostic Monitoring: Obtain patient data via invasive and non-invasive methods, interpret data, and integrate findings into care plans. Maintain accurate documentation and seek cost-effective strategies.
5. Equipment & Supplies: Ensure availability and proper functioning of equipment; report malfunctions and collaborate on resolutions. Monitored through audits and maintenance records.
6. Health Promotion: Educate patients and families, assist with discharge planning, and evaluate medical equipment needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in patient assessment, respiratory procedures, mechanical ventilation, and arterial blood gases.
• Operate and resolve issues with ventilators, monitors, and oxygen devices; draw arterial blood specimens.

Education:

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program.
• High school diploma or GED.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Respiratory Therapist Certificate or Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required at hire).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 2 months of hire).
• Basic Life Support (required at hire).

Additional Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years ICU experience.
• Experience in patient health education.
• Post-graduation experience or internship in respiratory therapy.
• Knowledge of neonatal and adult ventilator management, pulmonary assessment, and gas monitoring.

Location: Oregon, Hillsboro, Westside Hospital

Schedule: Full-time, Night shift, 40 hours/week
