Job summary

The University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank is seeking a Respiratory Care Assistant student to gain hands-on experience while enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program. You will perform routine RT modalities under supervision and work with licensed therapists.

Eligible students may access MN Dual Training Grant benefits and will learn under the guidance of the respiratory therapy team, focusing on patient education and evidence-based care.

Qualifications

• Student in good standing in a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapy modalities under direct supervision of a licensed RT.
• Maintains or discontinues medical gas as directed.
• Performs aerosol and humidity therapies and airway clearance.
• Monitors bronchial drainage and interprets spirometry results.
• Participates in CPR and provides education to patients and families.
• Reviews charts to support Plan of Care and communicates with the interprofessional team.
