Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate supplies for the department.
• Process dirty equipment to maintain clean, ready-to-use inventory.
• Administer nebulized medications and continuous oxygen therapy per guidelines.
• Perform chest physiotherapy (CPT) per department guidelines.
• Do not participate in invasive procedures or critical care.
• Instruct patients in the use of Incentive Spirometry.
• Charge for all services provided using the BCX system.
• Perform arterial punctures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Maintains an adequate amount of supplies, medication, and medical gas tanks within the department. Takes care of accumulating dirty equipment and the processing of equipment. Administers medications via nebulizer, as well as participate in other forms of intermittent non‑invasive patient care. Does not participate in critical care or the care of unstable patients.

Major Job Functions

• Maintains adequate amounts of supplies needed for the department
• Picks up dirty equipment and then processes them to maintain an adequate supply of clean, ready to use equipment
• Performs testing of Cidex and/or other solutions utilized by the department
• Administers continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelines
• Does not participate in invasive procedures (Intubations) or critical care (mechanical ventilation)
• Instruct patients in the use and performance of Incentive Spirometry
• Performs CPT per department guidelines
• Charges for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX system
• Performs arterial punctures
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education And Formal Training

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required

• Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co‑workers, patients, and hospital guests
